If I was given the opportunity to travel to any point in time, past or future, I would travel 200 years in to the future. Visiting a point in the past would certainly be interesting, but ultimately, we know what happens. The future is the great unknown. You may remember the beginning of each Star Trek episode when Captain Kirk confidently proclaims “These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before.”

I want to see how things turn out. What becomes of the earth? What is the future of the human race? Do we prosper as a world united, or do we destroy each other as individual nations fighting for control? Will there ever be world peace? I often wonder these things and to see how far we have either progressed or regressed 200 years from now would be extremely rewarding. The human race has always evolved and adapted, and the future should be no different. It is indeed the great unknown.
