The Auxiliary.

A RICH LEGACY OF BENEVOLENCE, IMPACT & HOPE.

Established in 1889, the Auxiliary of The Philadelphia Protestant Home embodies a longstanding tradition steeped in service and community spirit, leaving an indelible impact on the lives of numerous residents and their families. Engaged in fundraising, social activities and direct resident service programs, our dedicated members are committed to furthering the mission of PPH.

The efforts of our members have successfully fulfilled the Auxiliary’s goal, channeling substantial contributions to the Benevolent Care Fund, equipment acquisitions, renovation projects, a van, resident amenities, support services, program development and the expansion of social opportunities. In doing so, they have seamlessly integrated these initiatives into the daily lives of older adults residing at PPH.

RECENT SPECIAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS:

PPH Winter Bazaar

• Spring and Winter Holiday Bazaar and Flea Market in Social Hall with PPH partners offering crafts, plants, wreaths, quilts, artwork, stained glass, hand-crafted jewelry, and raised funds for Benevolent Care.

• Apartment sales

• Mobile greeting card and gift packaging sales

• Collections of personal items and cosmetics for residents

• Initiative for an Eyeglass Collection Box in the Medical Office Waiting Room in cooperation with the Lions Club of the Chapel of Four Chaplains and a used/cancelled stamp collection for “Stamps for Wounded Veterans.”

• Provides clothing and household goods to other missions or organizations

• Collection of clothing and personal items for a local fire displacing 28 families and a drive with the 2nd Police District to provide warm clothing for the unhoused.

• Stock’s Poundcake Sale

• Finances the cost of school buses for the students at Rhawnhurst Elementary School to visit and perform for PPH residents on Halloween and Christmas and a Spring intergenerational crafts fair for students and residents.

The PPH Auxiliary consists of 150 residents, PPH staff and community volunteers.

Joining the Auxiliary provides an opportunity to collaborate closely with like-minded individuals who share common interests and a passion for making a positive impact. Meetings are held monthly to foster camaraderie and coordination.

The primary purpose of the Auxiliary is to remain attuned to the needs of PPH and actively engage in various fundraising activities that support our diverse projects and programs.

Members of the Auxiliary can engage in community service across a spectrum of areas, including:

  • Several fundraisers are conducted throughout the year. These include card parties, plant sales, bazaars and clothing sales
  • Personal visits and companionship for residents
  • Packing and delivering holiday gifts to residents in December
  • And much more!
