The Eberhard and Helen Schea Endowment Fund for Health Care Education was established in 2007 to support continuing health care education programs, which promote the overall well-being of PPh residents and staff.  The fund is named in honor of long-time PPh supporters, donors, and residents, Mr. Eberhard “Ebbie” and Mrs. Helen Schea.  Ebbie was the manager of our Board of Pensions and an emeritus member of our Board of Directors, while Helen was a member of the PPh Auxiliary.  Ebbie came from a family of generous donors to PPh, and he and Helen continued that tradition.

The endowment was established by Caroline (daughter of Ebbie and Helen) Schea Lloyd and her husband, Jim Lloyd, as well as Frederick “Fred” Schea (son of Ebbie and Helen).  The three scholarship award winners for 2015 are Kathleen Jaskel from Finance, Daniel Loughrey from Fund Development, and Ricardo Pierre from Health Care.  Kathleen is currently working on her Master of Science degree in Accountancy at Holy Family University.  Daniel is studying Healthcare Administration at Philadelphia University.  Ricardo is studying to become a Registered Nurse at Community College of Philadelphia.  As Caroline Lloyd responded when informed of the scholarship award winners, “My parents would have approved.”

Any PPh employee enrolled in a health care-related program (clinical care or healthcare management) can pick up an application for the Schea Scholarship in the Office of Human Resources.
