5 Reasons to Choose a Connected Apartment Over a Stand-alone Cottage
Every type of community residence has its pros and cons. How to choose the place that’s perfect for you? It can be helpful to make a list of your wants and needs, and see which residence ends up with the most items in the “pros” column. In this blog, we’d like to talk about the benefits of choosing a connected apartment over a stand-alone cottage or home.
- You’ll be protected in inclement weather. At PPH, you can choose a modern, spacious apartment in one of three independent living buildings: Lawndale Manor, Alpha Manor or Gateway Manor. Our covered walkways keep you dry and comfortable even if it’s raining or snowing, whether you’re walking to other areas of PPH, or just getting a little exercise. When you’re visiting one of our dining establishments, the wellness & aquatics center, the pharmacy, art studio and other popular campus spots it’s nice to be close—especially when you may be making several trips a day. The easier it is to for you to get to an activity, the more likely you are to participate.
- You’ll minimize the possibility of having to move again. You could be living in a community for quite a long time. You may not mind the walk or the weather now, but how will you feel in a few years? I’ve seen many people who’ve moved into a cottage or other stand-alone home, only to feel that they’d like to be more convenient to dining and other amenities in later years. Who wants to move twice? It’s more convenient to make one move, and not have to worry about moving yourself—and all of your possessions—a second time.
- You’ll be closer to friends new and old. It’s simpler to make a date with friends to go down to dinner, or just pop down the hall to plan a quick walk, when you’re in the same building. It’s also easier to get to know your neighbors when you can say hello in the elevator or hall than if you’re farther away in your own standalone house or cottage.
- Increased safety. If you live in a connected apartment, your neighbors are closer, and more likely to notice if something is out of the ordinary than if you are farther away from others in a stand-alone home.
- You and your spouse will be on the same page. If you’re moving with another person, then it’s important to look ahead a few years. Is it possible that one member of the couple could be in worse health than the other down the road? If you’re in a connected apartment, then you won’t have to worry that your spouse or yourself may have a hard time getting to activities; you’ll both have easy mobility to everything the community has to offer.
