After the application deadline, which is June 30, 2016 at 11:59 p.m., a panel of judges that work with or directly for The Philadelphia Protestant Home review all entries received prior to the deadline. Essays are judged on creativity, writing quality, research, and overall strength of essay. The winner will be announced on July 14, 2016 on pphfamily.org and will be notified via the email that was submitted with essay entry. The recipient’s essay will be shared on pphfamily.org’s website, social media vehicles, and other marketing channels to promote the winner. The Philadelphia Protestant Home reserves the right to select an alternative applicant or not to award the scholarship if the winner fails to contact The Philadelphia Protestant Home within 7 days of being notified.
All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents of the United States.
Applicant must be a current senior high school or home school student and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale and must have taken either the ACT or SAT test. Applicant must be earning a GED or high school diploma between January 1, 2016 and August 1, 2016 and will be attending an accredited college or university by Fall semester 2016.
Applicant must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale, and be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016.
Applicant must provide their contact information and submit their 1,000 to 1,500 word essay through the "Submit an Essay" button.
Only one (1) applicant will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship that can be applied to college expenses, such as; tuition, fees, books, or on-campus housing. Funds are provided by The Philadelphia Protestant Home and will be made payable directly to the scholarship winner.
