The Philadelphia Protestant Home has a monthly prayer breakfast from August through May of each year.  The prayer breakfast is a time for fellowship among friends and neighbors, and each one features a different guest speaker.  The purpose of this gathering is to pray for God’s guidance in the Home and also the surrounding community.  This includes praying for residents, staff, neighbors and humanity at large.  Prayer is an important part of life and no matter your religion or faith, gathering with friends and neighbors is to be appreciated.

This gathering is held on the second Saturday of each month, and many of the featured speakers are religious leaders from local churches.  It is, however, a varied bunch that has also included PPh staff members, a Chaplain from the Philadelphia Fire Department, and even a board member or two.  The event has grown exponentially over the past year and now has a monthly average of about 50-70 attendees.

In addition to the numerous and varied featured speakers, the breakfast menu also changes from month to month.  It has included everything from pancakes to omelets to French toast. Needless to say, your palate will not be disappointed.

Tickets for the prayer breakfast cost only $4.25, and our Personal Care residents can attend for free (although they must register in the Business Office prior to the event).  Independent Living residents and community members can purchase tickets in advance in the Business Office.  The next prayer breakfast will take place on Saturday, January 9, at 8:00 a.m. in the Social Hall.  The featured speaker will be Pastor Rodney Kopp of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
