PPh Welcomes Our New Executive Chef, John Hunt

Posted on: Jun 24, 2015

Author: Daniel Loughrey, PPh Perspective & E-News EditorJohn Hunt

PPh is pleased to announce the hiring of John Hunt as our new Executive Chef. John will oversee all food preparation, menu design and kitchen operations for the facility in addition to event catering. When not at PPh, John will continue to stage (be a guest chef) at Aqua in Rittenhouse a couple of times each month.

John was born in Philadelphia and raised in Bustleton. He has worked his way up through the kitchen ranks in restaurants throughout the city. The foundation of his love for cooking was first inspired as a 13 year old when he started working at Kelly’s Seafood as a dishwasher and learned how to make basic dishes from the chefs. He eventually left Kelly’s to be a sous chef at the Village Tavern in Lawncrest. He served there as an apprentice for three years before leaving to open his own restaurant, Hunt’s Seafood. He was most recently employed as the Executive Chef at the Buck Hotel in Feasterville-Trevose.

Having previously served two stints at PPh, John is happy to be back in friendly confines. He finds great joy in striving to improve the PPh dining experience and is currently developing a new, four week cycle menu for all three levels of care. He values excellent tasting food and great service above all else, valuing each and every resident as a customer. We’re happy to welcome him back to PPh where he can once again bring great tasting menu items to all of us!

What Residents Say

"In my nine years at PPH, I’ve grown to like it very much. At first, I felt like a stranger and then as I began to talk to people, we increasingly became good friends. A way to meet people is to join clubs. I’m now part of the PPH Auxiliary. I love helping with their flea markets because you never know what you can find. Recently, I’ve joined an evening quilting class. I love that I can continue to enjoy my life outside of PPH while experiencing the offers here.…especially the pool! Everything is just so convenient.

What Families Say

"My mom is sooo happy at PPH, I can’t even describe it in strong enough words. She’s met so many new friends and these ladies do EVERYTHING together! She sees Dad every day in Pathways, but can have her life too. She’s gone to so many activities and I think I’ve already been to Scoops with her at least 15 times. She loves the dining room and Bistro too. My sister, Ilene, and I are so delighted that Mom is happy.......Wow, it feels like Mom’s been there about 2 years—but it’s only 2 months!! That’s how comfortable and natural it feels for her – and for all of us.
