Founders’ Day – Our Triumphant Future

Posted on: Nov 23, 2015

The Philadelphia Protestant Home (PPh) culminated our yearlong 125th Anniversary Celebration during Founders’ Day on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. The PPh Board, administration, staff and residents took part in the unveiling of a historical timeline, which is now permanently displayed in our main lobby. We also received a generous $125,000 matching gift from The Arcadia Foundation after reaching the 125th Anniversary Campaign goal.

In addition, we received a proclamation from the Office of City Councilwoman Marion Tasco. As part of its annual tradition on Founders’ Day, we recognized those who have been employed 20 plus years and 13 residents who have lived here for 20 plus years. We also honored six residents who are centenarians (aged 100-years-old or older), along with announcing residents-of-the-year distinctions for Independent Living, Personal Care, and Pathways long-term care.

Founders’ Day is an annual event that recognizes the diligent and tireless efforts of a group of men who stepped up in 1889 to meet the urgent need for care for the seniors in the community. This year’s event was even more special. It culminated the 125th anniversary events with the unveiling of a historical timeline. The timeline projects the key events, people, and projects that have contributed to the progression and advancements achieved at PPh throughout the last 125 years.

We hope the story of our “Treasured Past” that is outlined on the timeline will bring back pleasant memories for many, but mostly be an inspiration to others. We hope that all who encompass our “PPh Family” will continue the dedication and commitment to help further the mission of PPh. Our hope is that we can all work together to build a “Triumphant Future.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual event, our anniversary campaign, the PPh Auxiliary for their gift of $11,125.00 to the campaign and to The Arcadia Foundation for the generous $125,000 matching gift. These are the gifts that continue to make a difference.

What Residents Say

"In my nine years at PPH, I’ve grown to like it very much. At first, I felt like a stranger and then as I began to talk to people, we increasingly became good friends. A way to meet people is to join clubs. I’m now part of the PPH Auxiliary. I love helping with their flea markets because you never know what you can find. Recently, I’ve joined an evening quilting class. I love that I can continue to enjoy my life outside of PPH while experiencing the offers here.…especially the pool! Everything is just so convenient.

What Families Say

"My mom is sooo happy at PPH, I can’t even describe it in strong enough words. She’s met so many new friends and these ladies do EVERYTHING together! She sees Dad every day in Pathways, but can have her life too. She’s gone to so many activities and I think I’ve already been to Scoops with her at least 15 times. She loves the dining room and Bistro too. My sister, Ilene, and I are so delighted that Mom is happy.......Wow, it feels like Mom’s been there about 2 years—but it’s only 2 months!! That’s how comfortable and natural it feels for her – and for all of us.
