I’m ready but my kids aren’t
Like any other big decision in life, some times familial support can really be helpful. Many people looking at senior living communities rely on their adult children, nieces or nephews for guidance. They come along for tours and help with making sure their loved one picks the right senior living community.
Unfortunately, they can also hinder decisions as well. The move can be just as impactful on the family as the person actually moving. Remember how tough it was on your parents when you decided you were leaving for college? If you have a family member thinking about making a move to a senior living community and you know your opinion will be a driving factor in the decision, get involved. Become informed about the places they’re considering. Think about what’s best for them. It will help ease a lot of tension and the person moving will feel a lot more secure in their decision.
