11th Annual Gala – Havana Nights

It was a great night. Or as they say in Havana, Fue Una Gran Noche! The PPh 11th annual Gala – Havana Nights, presented by Select Rehabilitation and Temple Health Jeanes Hospital & Temple University Physicians was held on Friday September 30 at Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein in front of 225 of PPH’s closest family members, friends and donors. Many months of planning and execution would not have been possible without the support of the many PPH volunteers and Gala committee members who helped oversee raffle sales, silent auction and many day-of initiatives.

This year marked the first time PPH had Presenting Co-Sponsors. We are so very thankful for our partners from Select and Temple for being an integral part of Gala history. Our sponsorship structure this year included some new additions and our partners could not have been more cooperative and appreciative.

We thank all of our Premier, Family and Corporate sponsors, as well as our patron guests who stepped up and helped us underwrite and/or reduce fundamental Gala expenses and, thereby, laying the groundwork to expand and grow sponsorships and Gala proceeds to support Benevolent Care.

Finally, we thank our keynote speaker, Maureen Boyle, daughter of former PPH resident Edna Boyle, for her poignant and heartfelt words on PPH Benevolent Care, what it meant to her mother, and to her family overall. In a society where everything changes by the day, PPH is proud to hold true to a mission that has stayed the same for more than 125 years, to provide a caring senior living community that affords its residents the opportunity to achieve their highest possible quality of life. We thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to another successful gala in 2017!

What Residents Say

"In my nine years at PPH, I’ve grown to like it very much. At first, I felt like a stranger and then as I began to talk to people, we increasingly became good friends. A way to meet people is to join clubs. I’m now part of the PPH Auxiliary. I love helping with their flea markets because you never know what you can find. Recently, I’ve joined an evening quilting class. I love that I can continue to enjoy my life outside of PPH while experiencing the offers here.…especially the pool! Everything is just so convenient.

– Lucille Hite, Independent Living resident

What Families Say

"My mom is sooo happy at PPH, I can’t even describe it in strong enough words. She’s met so many new friends and these ladies do EVERYTHING together! She sees Dad every day in Pathways, but can have her life too. She’s gone to so many activities and I think I’ve already been to Scoops with her at least 15 times. She loves the dining room and Bistro too. My sister, Ilene, and I are so delighted that Mom is happy.......Wow, it feels like Mom’s been there about 2 years—but it’s only 2 months!! That’s how comfortable and natural it feels for her – and for all of us.
